Community Learning Programme

OUR project Creativity & Learning on the Marsh brings people together through practical learning opportunities, offered in central community locations. We have successfully gained interest in our learning programmes by engaging children at local primary schools, after school clubs & playgroups. Our target groups are parents & carers who live in isolated rural villages on Romney Marsh. Romney Marsh is an area of deprivation, poor transport links & low employment. We have identified the needs of local people by trialling workshops at different times & days, in a variety of venues & a range of skills/techniques.We have had a great deal of enthusiasm for traditional skills learning & the use of local resources. We found that the local church was a popular venue , as they are in a central village location, facilities are good& disabled accessible. AiRM has worked with a diverse range of community groups since 2011, we are increasingly aware of the value of learning creative skills for well being and confidence.
