Wool in Lockdown

Intergenerational online learning

Lockdown means being at home 24/7 and no school… thanks to funding from Kent Community Foundation, we were able to combine online learning to deliver accessible, fun and practical skills to parents and carers.

Our original project involved actual classes and working with social enterprise experts to set up our own SE projects…

However before we knew it, we were in lockdown and our only form of communication was via our smartphones.

We were able to set up our new wool weaving project because we had a local expert who could provide ‘bitesize’ skills sessions.

Yee was able to work with her daughter, as part of her ‘bubble’, she was able to video each session.

We co-ordinated getting the tools and materials ready, partly sending by post, partly by non-contact drop off (leaving items on the doorstep).

The sessions were held in the evening, when time and space was available.

After 2 sessions… ideas were flowing and making designs had already started.
