Susan Churchill is an artist, curator who has returned to her studio this year 2025 to explore painting which is her main passion

This series of portraits is based on Queer Heritage research that began in 2023. Susan has been inspired by exploring queer portraits from 1920’s. The Venn diagram being: queer, creative, living in Sussex and Kent, 1920’s. The research project was given the title “We’ve been Here Before”

Having worked with other local queer artists she has developed a collaborative studio based portrait project and exhibitions in Folkestone July 2025 and Hastings November 2025

Susan has also played a key role in establishing the new Queeriosities Collective who are the queer artists who also exhibited work in recent exhibitions
